Talking Hands Theatre is dedicated to entertaining children with puppets by connecting their minds and their mind’s eye as well as their sense of humor. Their 5' wide black curtain stage fits easily in any space.  They fetch their own sound equipment. The puppets are all handmade rod and tabletop puppets. All shows include an interactive factor. Educational awareness, environmentalism, and generosity are just a few of their themes.


The birthday party show, Kate and the Cake-Eating Cat is always a hit. The newest show, Little Superheroes, is about how kids can help take care of the environment. The Princess Who Escaped From Pirates caters to everyone's passions. Two Dinosaurs Are Better Than One is their bully prevention show, featuring brightly colored table-top puppets. The Puppet Showplace Theatre

You won't mind the petite size when you realize that productions here are devised to pint sized viewers and showcase pint sized inanimate entertainers. This puppetry center offers performances in what one might call a tiny theatre when compared to some of the opulent showplaces that can be found in cities across the nation. One place to find top children's puppet shows in Massachusetts, in the Greater Boston area, is in Brookline Village at the long established Puppet Showplace Theatre.


The Puppet Showplace Theatre has been true to its name now for some 36 years. It stands as central venue to which are welcomed outstanding puppetry show companies which offer performances for audiences of all ages. Among its annual presentations one can customarily find some of the traditional puppet shows like "Hansel and Gretel " but don't be surprised to also see on its calendar some new and creative pieces as well.

Gerwick Puppets

Whenever you hunt for a presentation that will beguile children and is age appropriate, a show by Gerwick puppets will fulfill your needs. All Gerwick puppet productions incorporate music. Traditional music prevails and is the main content of Midwinter Magic, a show that visualizes music with puppets, movement and light. It appeals to a family audience from pre-school children to adults.


Deborah Costine, a puppeteer of Gerwick Puppets has solo shows for pre-school and kindergarten as well as for home birthday parties. These include 'The Three Little Pigs and Other Tales', and 'The Twig Family in the Oak Tree, 'The Three Little Pigs are designed for an audience of 100 or less rather than the large productions that can handle assemblies of 200 and 300. 'Twig' is an intimate show that encourages young children to be aware and attentive to nature. This production is limited to an audience of 35.
